Planting Pea Seeds

I have just had a lovely morning planting peas with my son Edwin. It is late winter and I am confident all this wet weather is past so we thought we should get out in the sun and plants some pea seeds. My boys love peas- they call them 'green lollies' ( great marketing on my part i have to confess!). In fact I have to admit that not one home grown pea has ever made it into the kitchen to be eaten. They are always devoured out in the garden when the kids are 'free ranging' in the afternoon!

I choose to grow the trailing varieties as I never have time to get any climbing structures organised in time. After the peas have finished they are dug back into the soil to return important nitrogen to the soil. One of the best and easiest crops to grow and so healthy for the marauding kids!
